Mary Ellen Bingham MS, RD, CSSD is a counselor, speaker and writer on nutrition and health. She is a Board Certified Specialists in Sports Dietetics. She has extensive training and experience providing sound nutrition advice and promoting healthy dietary changes for weight management, sports nutrition and various conditions requiring medical nutrition therapy including but not limited to obesity, diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and eating disorders. Mary Ellen has worked with a wide variety of clients including children and adults focusing on balanced eating and exercise habits for optimal health and performance.
Mary Ellen is the nutritionist for a Division 1 university and has worked closely with clients referred to her by doctors, psychologists, physical therapists and personal trainers throughout Manhattan. She has written for or been quoted in numerous publications including The New York Times, Shape Magazine, Seventeen Magazine, My Family Doctor Magazine, Women's Health Magazine, Men's Journal Magazine, Insidetri.com, Triathlete Magazine, Inside Triathlon Magazine, & Shekows.com. She has conducted sports nutrition workshops for various groups including The 2007 New England Youth Sports Festival at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts, SheRox Women's Triathlon Training Group in Philadelphia, PA (2008), and The Philadelphia Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training marathon & half-marathon team (2009). Mary Ellen serves as a faculty member for the Women's Center for Education and Career Advancement, a non-profit organization in New York City. Additionally, she is a Sports Nutrition Associate for Trismarter.com.
Mary Ellen received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Boston University. She has a Masters of Science degree in Clinical Nutrition from New York University. She completed her dietetic internship training from the James J. Peters Veterans Affairs Medical Center and is credentialed as a Registered Dietitian. While at Boston University she was the captain and Most Valuable Player of the Division I Women's Track and Field team. More recently, she has completed four marathons including San Diego (2007), Boston (2008), Boston (2009) and New York City (2009--- PR: 3:32:14).
